Wild Life Drawing: Owls
British Summer Time
Tickets
Event Details
This summer, our Owls are back and they come in all sizes. This time we're celebrating the little and the large in the owl world, and learning how their sizes (and shapes!) help them adapt to their habitats and hunting styles.
We'll meet Humphrey the Little Owl, who stands at around 18cm, loves head scratches and has perfected the death stare. We'll meet Socks the Eagle Owl, with giant orange eyes and talons to match. Then we'll meet Fred, whose fabulous facial discs are the biggest of all birds of prey, meaning her super sense hearing can pick up the heartbeats of lemmings under 4 feet of snow.
While we sketch, falconer Paul will teach us all about each species, and share insights into his unique relationships with these wonderful birds.
And if we're lucky, we might even get a chance to hang out with some of this year's newly hatched owlets!
The class will be led by nature-loving artist Jennie Webber. We will provide you with all the materials you need to get started, and Jennie will be on hand with plenty of creative advice, drawing from her 10 years teaching the process of drawing animals from life. The most important thing for you to know is that there is no pressure at our classes- we believe that once we stop worrying about the outcome, drawing can be enjoyable for everyone. All abilities are welcome, and all artistic styles are celebrated.
Here at Wild Life Drawing we are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy around humans. The falconer who is bringing along the owls is an expert in their care, and regularly works alongside the RSPCA to rescue and rehabilitate wild raptors.
10% of profits will be donated to The Barn Owl Trust.
Please note: Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another class, but can be transferred to another name- just get in touch to let us know who will be attending. We do sometimes have waiting lists for sessions, so if the class you have tickets for is sold out and you can’t make it, please email info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk with as much notice as possible and we will try our best to re-allocate your tickets. If we are able to do so you will be given a credit for another class. Children over the age of 5 are welcome to attend, provided they are accompanied by an adult who is also taking part in the class.
