Event Details
Trot on over to celebrate the springtime with us and our friends at Spitalfields City Farm. Anyone who has been already will know what a magical place it is, with its community garden, cute cafe and salt of the earth team. With the gardens beginning to bloom, we will explore the farm on a drawing tour where we will meet and sketch some of the new additions; baby lambs, Bantam chicks and two very special young pygmy goats Fern and Violet. And as it's Easter, we will of course drop in on the bunnies and the ducks! Fabulous Farm Manager Jenny will tell us all about the various species, and will share information on the farm's Rare Breed Conservation status.
The class will be led by nature illustrator Laura Cuppage, who will begin with an introduction to drawing from life. Throughout the session, Laura will be on hand with creative advice and will have some handy hints on how to sketch moving models while having your drawing board nibbled by a goat. We welcome all abilities to partake (especially beginners!) so whether you’re a dab hand or you haven’t picked up a pencil in years, we are positive you'll get loads out of the experience. We will provide everything you need to get going; paper, drawing boards, colour and materials, but you’re welcome to bring your own kit along if you’d like.
Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Wild Life Drawing. We are a small team of animal lovers who are dedicated to nature, and we strive to make each of our classes a positive experience for the animals we draw. We work only with the finest teams who treat their animals with respect and care, and healthy, happy animals that are relaxed and comfortable around humans.
£10 from each ticket will be donated to Spitalfields City Farm to support their fantastic community work. The charity provides a safe, sensory space for local school children and adults with learning difficulties, as well as working to conserve endangered breeds.
Please note: Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another class, but can be transferred to another name- just get in touch to let us know who will be attending. We do sometimes have waiting lists for sessions, so if the class you have tickets for is sold out and you can’t make it, please email info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk with as much notice as possible and we will try our best to re-allocate your tickets. If we are able to do so you will be given a credit for another class. Children over the age of 5 are welcome to attend, provided they are accompanied by an adult who is also taking part in the class.
