The Galapagos Islands are one of the most ecologically significant locations on earth. Having been the starting point for Darwin’s theory of evolution, the unique flora and fauna of these volcanic isles quite literally shaped the way we understand the natural world. For this class, join us to meet some of their cousin species, with a special focus on natural selection and the theory of evolution. We will meet an Iguana, Sulcata Tortoise, several snakes and some gorgeous geckos!
We'll be joined by reptile expert Ben who is passionate about dispelling the stereotypes that surround the (often misunderstood) scaly species group. Ben will teach us about the amazing biology of these animals and prove that while they may be cold-blooded, reptiles are most certainly not cold-hearted. The class will be led by artist and wildlife enthusiast Jennie Webber, who will begin with some fun warm-up drawing exercises and will guide you through the process of drawing animals from life with as much creative guidance as you’d like.
We will provide paper and drawing boards, as well as an array of colourful materials for you to enjoy, but do bring along any of your own favourite tools if you’d like to. The class is open to all, from beginners to advanced. Even if you haven’t picked up a pencil in years, we will have you sketching away in no time! Our goal is for you to leave with not only some lovely drawings, but also a greater understanding and appreciation of the animals you’ve drawn.
Here at Wild Life Drawing, we are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy being around humans.
10% of profits will be donated to Galapagos Conservation Trust.
Please note: Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another class, but can be transferred to another name- just get in touch to let us know who will be attending. We do sometimes have waiting lists for sessions, so if the class you have tickets for is sold out and you can’t make it, please email info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk with as much notice as possible, and we will try our best to re-allocate your tickets. If we are able to do so, you will be given a credit for another class. Children over the age of 5 are welcome to attend, provided they are accompanied by an adult who is also taking part in the class.
