Gather your troop and get ready to fall in love with what may be our sweetest and cheekiest ‘models’ to date! We are delighted to say that on the morning of Saturday 29th November, we will be live-streaming all the way to Liberia, to meet the current batch of rescued youngsters at the Liberia Chimp Rescue. The star of the show will be the newest and littlest addition to the sanctuary, a supremely gorgeous infant named Jane. Named after the world's chimp champion Dr Goodall, this sweet little girl had a tricky start in life. When her mother was shot, little Jane was rescued from someone who was trying to sell her illegally as a pet. Thank goodness she’s in safe hands now, and is thriving- growing more curious and confident every day.

Once we’ve filled our boots with Jane-cuteness, we will head out to the baby chimp playground to meet some of the slightly older youngsters. Get ready for a real circus- these little rascals love nothing more than showing off their acrobatics!

We will be joined by chimp expert and charity founder Jenny, who will tell us all the individual stories of these sweethearts, and will talk about chimp conservation and their incredible characters. Our own Jennie (artist Jennie Webber) will be leading the drawing, and will provide lots of advice on how to capture those complex facial expressions and agile movements in your work.

Our donation will go towards the Caregivers Campaign. Sadly, the current US government have brought in some sudden and dramatic funding changes, and so LCRP sanctuary has been left without crucial income to pay their staff, meaning the job roles of this dedicated and skilled team are threatened. There are 120 young chimps in their care, and it costs $5000 USD to run the sanctuary for a year.

The class is open to all abilities and ages – this one is perfect for families looking for a calm and creative activity for a winter morning. The drawing demos are suited to everyone – especially beginners – and there’s no pressure to work in a particular style. The basic materials you need to take part are some paper, a pencil, a sharpener and a rubber- but please feel free to work in whichever materials you enjoy using. We will send you an email before the session, which will contain a Zoom link and all the information you need. After the class, we will send all ticket holders a recording so you can catch up/ rewatch as many times as you like.

50% of profits will be donated to Liberia Chimp Rescue & Protection
