Event Details
As the leaves begin to fall, join us for a cosy autumnal evening in the company of three stunning owls.
First up we’ll meet a barn owl named Solo. These delicate birds’ heart-shaped faces funnel sound into their ears so effectively that they can hear a mouse’s heartbeat from 40 feet away.
Next we’ll sketch Daisy, an eagle owl who is sure to wow you with her striking orange eyes and prominent ear tufts. These powerful predators have incredibly strong talons, enabling them to tackle surprisingly large prey.
Finally we will meet Fred, a great grey owl. Prepare for lots of “oohs” and “aahs” when this awesome girl appears. As the largest species of owl in the world by length, they dont call these birds great for no reason!
The class will be led by nature-loving artist Jennie Webber. We will provide you with all the materials you need to get started, and Jennie will be on hand with plenty of creative advice, drawing from her 10 years teaching the process of drawing animals from life. The most important thing for you to know is that there is no pressure at our classes- we believe that once we stop worrying about the outcome, drawing can be enjoyable for everyone. All abilities are welcome, and all artistic styles are celebrated.
While we sketch, falconer Paul will teach us all about each species, and will be very happy to answer any questions you have.
Here at Wild Life Drawing we are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy around humans. The falconer who is bringing along the owls is an expert in their care, and regularly works alongside the RSPCA to rescue and rehabilitate wild raptors.
10% of profits will be donated to The Barn Owl Trust.
