Get ready for colour, charisma and just the right amount of chaos, because this September the parrots are back! At this class we will be joined by a rainbow of ravishing macaws and charming cockatoos, each of whom has a personality which is as bright and lively as their feathers. This class will be very special indeed, because while we draw we will have the chance to hear from their handler Barrett Watson, who is one of the UK’s leading parrot experts and has a trusting bond with each and every one of his birds. Barrett will teach us all about these intelligent birds and update us on the breeding programmes he is involved in, which work to conserve rare and endangered species in the wild.
Artist Jennie Webber will begin the session with an introduction to drawing moving models, and some fun warm-up exercises to get your drawings off to a flying start. No prior art experience is needed to join the session- whether you’re a dab hand or an absolute beginner, we will have you sketching away in no time. The aim of our classes is to use drawing as a tool to learn about animals and conservation- there is no pressure to create a “perfect” portrait. We will provide a range of art materials, paper and drawing boards for you to use so no need to bring anything along.
Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Wild Life Drawing. We are a small team of animal lovers who are dedicated to conservation, and we strive to make each of our classes a positive experience for the animals we draw. We only ever work with the finest handlers who treat their animals with respect and care, and animals who are healthy and happy being around humans.
Barrett Watson is one of the most distinguished parrot experts in the UK and he provides a vast amount of educational information for responsible parrot ownership, campaigns against wing-clipping, and is a published author on the species. 10% of your ticket price will go to The World Parrot Trust to support the conservation of wild parrots.
Please note: Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another class, but can be transferred to another name- just get in touch to let us know who will be attending. We do sometimes have waiting lists for sessions, so if the class you have tickets for is sold out and you can’t make it, please email info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk with as much notice as possible and we will try our best to re-allocate your tickets. If we are able to do so you will be given a credit for another class.
