This October we will be celebrating animals that have been rescued and gone on to live happy and healthy lives, and the humans that make that happen. We are delighted to have fabulous duo Mark and Jerry back, whose animal sanctuary Our Amazing Animal World welcomes all unloved and unwanted animals with open arms and loving hearts.
They will be bringing along some of their superstar rescues spanning many species – including Hettie the Pygmy Hedgehog, Gizmo the leopard gecko, Lucky the turkey, Mika the meerkat, Noodle the corn snake, Monty the giant continental rabbit, Ernest the horsefield tortoise, Pascal the veiled chameleon and the now iconic Jabba the African bull frog. As well as doing some sketching and cuddling of course, we will be discussing responsible pet ownership and busting some myths about the best and most ethical ways to keep our animal friends.
Here at Wild Life Drawing, we are a small team of nature lovers. Animal welfare is our core ethos and we only ever work with expert animal handlers who treat their animals with care, love and respect. These animals have all been rescued or rehomed by Mark and Jerry of Our Amazing Animal World, two dedicated animal experts with hearts of pure gold.
The class will begin with an introduction from artist and animal lover Jennie Webber, who will take you through the basics of drawing animals from life. Jennie will be on hand throughout the session with as much guidance as you'd like, and plenty of tips and tricks for drawing moving models. The drawing class is open to all, from beginners to advanced- even if you haven't picked up a pencil in years we will have you sketching away in no time! Children over 5 are very welcome at this class, as long as they are accompanied by an adult also taking part.
We will bring along paper, drawing boards and an array of colourful materials for you to use, but please feel free to bring any other specific media you would like. Our goal is for you to leave the class with both some beautiful drawings and a greater appreciation and understanding for the animals and their conservation in the wider world.
10% of each ticket sold will be donated to South Essex Wildlife Hospital – a rescue, rehabilitation and public advice charity that takes in sick, injured and orphaned animals from the areas around East London, North Kent and South Essex. No animal is turned away and the hospital often houses 200-300 animals at any one time. They function entirely on donations and volunteers, and our contribution will make a difference.
Please note: Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another class, but can be transferred to another name- just get in touch to let us know who will be attending. We do sometimes have waiting lists for sessions, so if the class you have tickets for is sold out and you can’t make it, please email info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk with as much notice as possible and we will try our best to re-allocate your tickets. If we are able to do so you will be given a credit for another class.
