What better way to begin the month of May than by meeting some marvellous monkeys? (Say that five times fast!)

Join us at the Battersea Park Children’s Zoo to sketch and learn about the clever, curious inhabitants of their primate area.

We will tip our cap to Capuchins Medellin Diablo and Carlos, ex-pets who were living in a London flat before being rehomed by the zoo. Capuchins are highly intelligent and love nothing more than solving the enrichment puzzles that the keepers give them to work on every day.

Then we’ll shake our tails with the squirrel monkeys Ursula, Medusa and Kronk-  who were rehomed by Battersea after beginning their lives being used as “decorations” at parties.

Lastly we’ll meet some of the smallest and most endangered primates in the world- cotton-top tamarins Nellie and Diego. These tiny monkeys are named for the white fluffy fur that they have on their heads, which they puff up when they feel threatened.

The class will be taught by nature loving artist Jennie Webber, who will provide all the creative advice you need to get your monkey sketches jumping off the page. We will provide all the art materials, paper and drawing boards so there’s no need to bring any art kit along unless you’d like to. All abilities are welcome, and all artistic styles are celebrated!

Children are welcome to attend but they must be accompanied by a ticket holding adult.

Please note: The price of the class does not include entry to the zoo, which you'll need to purchase separately. We recommend you book your zoo tickets in advance, which you can do here

Here at Wild Life Drawing we are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals that are happy being around humans.

10% of profits will be donated to Cikananga Wildlife Center, a wonderful Indonesian charity that rescues and rehabilitates animals from the exotic pet trade.
