Event Details

Take wing and join us and the Fort Road Hotel for a fabulous and feathery evening of drawing with owls. Our expert falconer will be bringing along three stunning owls, to show off the wide variety within the species group.

First up we’ll meet a barn owl named Solo. These are the most widely distributed group of owls in the world- spanning every continent but Antarctica.

Next we’ll sketch Daisy, an eagle owl who will surely wow you with her striking orange eyes and prominent ear tufts.

Finally we will meet Fred, who is a great grey- the largest type of owl in the world by length!

The class will be led by nature-loving artist Jennie Webber. We will provide you with all the materials you need to get started, and Jennie will be on hand with plenty of creative advice, drawing from her 10 years teaching people how to sketch moving animals. The most important thing for you to know is that there is no pressure at our classes- we believe that once we stop worrying about the outcome, drawing can be enjoyable for everyone. All abilities are welcome, and all artistic styles are celebrated.

While we sketch, falconer Paul will teach us all about each species, and will be very happy to answer any questions you have.

Here at Wild Life Drawing we are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare and conservation. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy around humans. The falconer who is bringing along the owls is an expert in their care, and regularly works alongside the RSPCA to rescue and rehabilitate wild raptors.

10% of profits will be donated to The Barn Owl Trust
