Event Details
At this downy and delightful class, we will meet and draw newly hatched ducklings and chicks. We can’t think of a more cracking way to celebrate the arrival of Spring!
Our miniature models will be lovingly transported to us from their home at Mudchute Farm by their expert handler, Michelle. We’ll meet a range of breeds and species, some of which are on the Rare Breed Survival Watchlist. Pending hatching success, we will likely meet bantam, Sussex, Dorking and Dutch hens, along with runner, Ayeslbury and Pekin ducklings! While we draw, we will discuss egg production within the poultry industry, and Michelle will get us clued up about how we can use our purchase power to improve hen welfare.
The class will be led by artist and animal lover Jennie Webber, who will begin with an introduction to drawing animals from life. The class is open to all abilities, and all artistic styles are celebrated. We will provide everything you need to get drawing- boards, paper and lots of lovely materials- but feel free to bring along your own kit if you’d like.
Here at Wild Life Drawing we are a small team who are dedicated to animal welfare. We only ever work with the finest animal handlers, who treat their animals with care and respect, and healthy animals who are happy being around humans. The birds we are drawing at this session are destined to live out their full lives at the city farm, where they are very well cared for and have space to roam happily.
10% of profits will be donated to the British Hen Welfare Trust.
Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be moved to another class, but can be transferred to another name- just get in touch to let us know who will be attending. We do sometimes have waiting lists for sessions, so if the class you have tickets for is sold out and you can’t make it, please email info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk with as much notice as possible and we will try our best to re-allocate your tickets. If we are able to do so you will be given a credit for another class.
