Do you have a keen eye and a love of long pups? If so, this class will be paw-fect for you. We will be at Loom Club, sketching graceful and gorgeous greyhounds. With their elegant forms, these painterly pups have been inspiring artists for centuries, and now it’s our turn to have a go!
The class will begin with an introduction and drawing demo by artist Jennie Webber. We will then set our sights on our speedy supermodels- all ex-racers, who were rescued by the team at Kent Greyhound Rescue. Thanks to this fantastic charity, each of our doggy models is now enjoying life at a slower pace, and being given the care and affection they deserve. Some are in their forever homes, others are currently staying with fabulous fosterers while they wait to be adopted. Each of the dogs we will meet is confident and happy to be out and about, and they all love a bit of attention. They will come along with their humans, and we will also be joined by Hannah who works at the charity, who will talk about the realities of greyhound racing and the fascinating history of this beautiful breed.
No prior art experience is needed to join the session- whether you’re a dab hand or an absolute beginner we are confident that with a few of our simple tips and tricks, we will have you sketching away in no time. We see drawing as a tool to learn more about animals and conservation; so there’s no pressure to create a “perfect” portrait! We will provide a range of art materials, paper and drawing boards for you to use, so no need to bring anything along, but if you have some trusty favourites that you enjoy using you’re very welcome to bring them.
Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Wild Life Drawing. We are a small team of animal lovers who are dedicated to conservation, and we strive to make each of our classes a positive experience for the animals we draw. We only ever work with the finest handlers who treat their animals with respect and care, and animals who are healthy and happy being around humans. The dogs that we will draw at this class are comfortable around groups of people, and will be compensated for their time with some tasty treats and lots of fuss!
£10 from each ticket will be donated to Kent Greyhound Rescue.
