We are so looking forward to this upcoming class, where we will be drawing an adorable and unusual species- the Tanuki! Also known as Japanese Raccoon Dogs, this ancient canine species play an important role in the folklore of their native Japan. They are often depicted as shapeshifters, who can turn to humans and sing songs. As this is a live class, we will have to wait and see if our models feel like performing a number for us on the day!

The class will be live-streamed from the wonderful Ventura Wildlife Foundation, where we will meet animal expert Steve Goodwin, who will be joining us from inside the tanuki enclosure. Expect lots of lovely close-ups of the gang! The class will be led by artist and wildlife enthusiast Laura Cuppage, who will begin with her top animal drawing tips. We will draw the tanukis as they move freely about their enclosure, so  Laura will provide plenty of advice on sketching moving models. Steve will be happy to answer your questions, and will have lots of fun tanuki facts to share throughout the session.

The class is open to all abilities, and all are welcome- from absolute beginners to seasoned pros. The basic materials you need to take part are some paper, a pencil an eraser and a pencil sharpener, but you're also more than welcome to work in your preferred medium. The reference images will be emailed to you along with instructions and the Zoom link 48 hours before the event is due to start, or in good time if you book your ticket closer to the session. We will send a recording out to all ticket holders after the class, so you can catch up/ rewatch the class to your heart's content.

50% of profits will be donated to Ventura Wildlife Foundation.
