Event Details
We are taking wing and flying down to the south coast for an awe inspiring evening drawing birds of prey. The exact line up is somewhat “up in the air” but we are likely to meet a Barn Owl, a Kestrel and a Peregrine Falcon. Our falconer only ever shows birds who are in the mood for an outing, so we will have to wait and see who fancies some modelling on the day!
The class will begin with an introduction from nature illustrator Jennie Webber, who will be on hand throughout the session to provide plenty of creative guidance. We will then be introduced to our fine feathered models by expert falconer Paul. While we draw there will be plenty of time for any questions that you have. We will study the anatomical features of each species in turn, focusing on capturing all of their fascinating evolutionary adaptations on the page. We will provide a range of art materials, paper and drawing boards for you to use, so no need to bring anything along (but you're welcome to bring along your own kit if you'd like).
Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Wild Life Drawing. We are a small team of animal lovers who are dedicated to conservation, and we strive to make each of our classes a positive experience for the animals we draw. We only ever work with the finest handlers who treat their animals with respect and care, and animals who are healthy and happy being around humans. The falconer who is bringing along the birds for the class is part of several breeding schemes for endangered species, and raises awareness of conservation through education projects.
10% of profits will be donated to the Barn Owl Trust.
