Get ready for a technicolour feast for the eyes at our upcoming Colour and Camouflage classes. We will be at The Depot sketching a dazzling array of reptiles; all of which posses either incredible camouflaging skills, stunning colourful markings, or both. We are so excited to say that we will be drawing a Chameleon! By dispersing or concentrating pigment granules in their skin cells, these amazing lizards are able to change the colour of their skin. Their colours are determined by light, temperature and even their emotions. We will also meet a rather fabulous Red Saharan Uromastyx. These lovely herbivorous lizards are known for the striking, brightly coloured patterns that run along their backs. Also on the bill, a Green Iguana. These absolute show-stoppers have the most beautiful vibrant green skin, which helps them blend in to the luscious foliage of their tropical habitats. There will be several other species showing us their best moves, all of which are sure to wow you.

Naturally, this class will be all about colour! We will begin with an introduction to the animals and then get stuck in to the art kit, using pastels, pens, chalks and pencils to create a rainbow on our pages. The class will be lead by artist Laura Cuppage who will guide you through the process of drawing animals from life, and help you capture all those magical markings. We welcome people of all artistic abilities to take part- whether you’re a dab hand or you haven’t picked up a pencil in years, we will have you sketching away in no time. We will provide everything you need to get going- paper, drawing boards and materials- but you’re welcome to bring your own kit along if you’d like. While we draw we will discuss reptile welfare, and hear lots of interesting facts about the species from our expert animal handlers.

Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do at Wild Life Drawing. We are a small team of animal lovers who are dedicated to nature, and we strive to make each of our classes a positive experience for the animals we draw. We only ever work with handlers who treat their animals with respect and care, and animals that are healthy and happy being around humans. The handlers who will be bringing along their animals to this session provide a safe home to unwanted pets, providing them with the specialised and expert care that they deserve. 10% of profits will be donated to SEED Madagascar to support the conservation of wild reptiles.

Tickets are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another name.
