Next up, we're drawing a favourite of all marine mammals – the Bottlenose Dolphin! These curious characters have captured the hearts of many an animal lover, with their playful attitudes, social bonds, sophisticated language and intelligent behaviours. Pods of bottlenose dolphins live around the UK, with the most well-known groups visible off the coast of Cardigan Bay in Wales and the Moray Firth in Scotland, as well as more frequent recent sightings off the coasts of Cornwall and Yorkshire. We're delighted to be teaming up with WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation, the leading global charity dedicated to the protection of whales and dolphins. WDC works across the globe to end captivity, stop whaling, create healthy seas, and prevent deaths in nets, through funding conservation and research projects, campaigning, education programmes, advising and lobbying governments and field work. Their vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.

On the video call we'll be joined by Charlie Phillips, WDC's Adopt A Dolphin Field Officer who’s ‘office’ is Chanonry Point, a great place to watch bottlenose dolphins from the shore. Charlie helps to monitor the resident bottlenose population, to feedback sightings information, photographs and video about the adoption dolphins: Rainbow, Indigo, Spirit and Charlie to WDC adopters, and collect identification data with the help of the local Shorewatch team. Charlie is an expert on this particular pod of dolphins, and an award-winning photographer too so there will be plenty of fascinating facts and a bumper pack of reference photos to work from.

The class will be hosted by Wild Life Drawing founder and artist Jennie Webber, who will take you through a detailed step-by-step drawing tutorial of bottlenose dolphins, starting off with simple shapes, studying the anatomical features and then adding details and character. She will be on hand throughout the class to help with your drawings, and provide plenty of tips and advice.

The basic materials you need to take part are paper, a pencil, eraser and sharpener, but of course you are more than welcome to work in whatever materials you enjoy or have to hand. Please get in touch if you need advice on materials, we’re happy to help! You will be emailed the reference images, instructions and the Zoom link to join 48 hours before the event is due to start, or in good time if you booked your ticket closer to the event. If you have not received your email 24 hours before the class please check your junk mail or get in touch with Jennie on info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk

50% of the ticket profits will be donated to WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation. Whale and Dolphin Conservation is a UK registered charity No.1014705 (England and Wales) and SC040231 (Scotland).
