Event Details

Draw and discover more about the native birds of prey here in the UK at our upcoming in-person class focussing on British Birds. We will be sketching a mixture of raptors and owl species including the Peregrine Falcon, Barn Owl and Tawny Owl.  We will be introduced to each bird with a detailed talk from an expert local falconer and learn about their anatomy, unique characteristics and their place the ecosystem. You'll learn where to spot these birds in the wild (even in urban areas) and we will discuss the current conservation issues affecting these species. All the birds have their own distinct personalities and we guarantee you'll go away with not only some great drawings, but a new found respect and admiration for these beautiful birds of prey.

The drawing class is open to all, from beginners to advanced. There will be helpful tips to begin and creative guidance and support throughout. Children aged 7 and above are more than welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult who is also taking part in the class. We will provide paper, drawing boards and a colourful array of materials for you to experiment with, but please do feel free to bring along any specific media that you enjoy using. The aim is to inspire a sense of appreciation and understanding for the animals and their conservation in the wider world.

At Wild Life Drawing we only ever work with the finest animal handlers, sanctuaries and organisations to put on these events. All the animals that attend the sessions are well used to humans and different environments and are always accompanied by experienced handlers, their welfare is our highest priority. The falconer that keeps these birds is a trusted and experienced animal handler that works with the RSPCA to rescue, rehabilitate and re-release wild birds of prey around the South of England. 10% of your ticket price will be donated to the Barn Owl Trust.
