Event Details
Love in lockdown can be tricky – but this Valentine’s Day, Wild Life Drawing is teaming up with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to offer a virtual date with a difference. Together we'll be running a special life drawing class over Zoom featuring some of Battersea's beautiful rescue dogs as models on the 14th February.
Artist Jennie Webber will host the Zoom class from her studio, while Battersea spokesperson, Rebecca Lodder, will talk about the dogs and the valuable work the charity has been doing for dogs and cats across the UK and beyond during the coronavirus pandemic.
The class will begin with an an introduction from Jennie, who will take you through the basics of drawing dogs from life, focussing on their muscle structure and anatomy. There will be a drawing demonstration of the shapes, proportions and anatomical features to identify before participants will have chance to meet and draw some of Battersea’s dogs, and Jennie will be on hand to demo, feedback or dish out creative advice throughout the whole session.
Rebecca Lodder, Rehoming and Welfare Manager said: “Valentine’s Day is all about love and we know the love of our rescue pets has rescued many of us over the past year. Whether you’re looking for a lockdown date with a difference with your Valentine, need a fun activity to entertain the kids or just looking for something fun to do with friends, by taking part in this life drawing class, you can help support rescue dogs and cats and show them a little love in these uncertain times.”
The basic materials you need to take part are paper, a pencil, eraser and sharpener, but of course you are more than welcome to work in whatever materials you enjoy or have to hand. Please get in touch if you need advice on materials, we're happy to help! You will be emailed instructions and the Zoom link to join 48 hours before the event is due to start. If you have not received your email 24 hours before the class, or within a few hours of booking your ticket, please check your junk mail or get in touch with Jennie on info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk
