British Summer Time

Event Details
Come draw and explore the wonderful world of flowers and plants this summer at Arboretum, a new ecologically inspired, environmentally focussed venue in Covent Garden. Locally grown plants and seasonal flowers, succulents, cacti and other fabulous foliage will make up a variety of botanical displays to inspire your artworks. The class will commence with an introduction into Botanical Illustration; it’s purpose and uses through the ages. Everyone will have the opportunity to study these plants closely and a variety of materials will be on offer to experiment with throughout the class. All abilities are welcome, and workshop leader Jennie Webber will be on hand for tips and advice throughout as well as demonstrating how to work with different media.
The drawing class is a two hour taster of Botanical Illustration, suitable for those with an interest in plants and after a fun evening of creativity, and for more experienced artists looking to try something new. The class will cater for everyone, from beginners to advanced. All drawing materials are supplied, including paper and drawing boards, but please feel free to bring colours or any other specific media you might like to use. Drawing tips and guidance will be provided throughout the session. The aim of these drawing classes is to inspire a sense of appreciation and understanding for the natural world and to educate attendees on conservation issues around the globe.
The plants sourced will be grown in the UK to avoid the air miles incurred by imported flowers. Tickets are non-refundable but can be swapped to a different name. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with Jennie on info@wildlifedrawing.co.uk
