Buy Wild Life Drawing: Baby Peregrine Falcons #2 Tickets
Truly delighted to announce our first developmental drawing classes with baby Peregrine Falcons, a beautiful bird of prey synonymous with the British landscape. The two chicks hatched at the very end of April, so at our second drawing class we will see the birds starting to grow in their flying feathers, gaining strength in their legs to move around independently and starting to explore the world around them. At our final class on 17th July, our little Peregines will be fully grown birds, taking flight and developing their own unique characters and personalities.
As well as drawing the falcons, we’ll be learning all about the different growth stages – from eggs to adult birds. We will learn about the rearing processes in falconry and the complexities of taking care of these baby birds! This species is native to the UK and we’ll be using the classes to explore the conservation issues affecting the birds and what we can do to help.
Peregrine Falcons develop quickly, and are fully grown at 12 weeks, and in that time they undergo a truly dramatic transformation as they swiftly turn from ungainly balls of downy feathers to beautiful, fully grown birds.
The drawing classes are open to all, from beginners to advanced. All drawing materials are supplied, including paper, but please feel free to bring colours or any other specific media you might like to use. The aim is to inspire a sense of appreciation and understanding for the animals and their conservation in the wider world.
Wild Life Drawing is working with the finest animal handlers, sanctuaries and organisations to put on these events. All the animals that attend the sessions are well used to humans and different environments and are always accompanied by experienced handlers, their welfare is our highest priority. The falconer that keeps these birds is a trusted and experienced animal handler that works with the RSPCA and other wildlife groups to rescue, rehabilitate and re-release wild birds of prey around the South of England.
